I absolutely love teaching New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL). It became an official language of New Zealand in April 2006, which means we are currently celebrating its 20th anniversary! I am incredibly honored to have recently received two major recognitions for my work: the NZSLTA Value Award at last year’s conference in Waitangi, and the NZSL Teacher of the Year award at the 20th Anniversary celebration at Te Papa in Wellington.
Originally from the UK, I have lived in New Zealand for over 22 years. I am married to a Deaf Kiwi, and we have two wonderful sons: Oliver, who is turning 20 and studying for a Biology degree at the University of Auckland, and Jack, who is turning 18 and completing his final year of high school (Year 13 NCEA).
NZSL is such a beautiful, expressive language, and I am so excited to teach and connect with students everywhere through our online classes. My goal is to welcome all students to learn NZSL, share in this wonderful culture, and discover the joy of communicating through sign!
