Join Primary
Schools with learners from Years 0 – 8 are welcome to register into our primary programmes. There are specific ways of working and commitments around how to engage that are important for each school to know and understand.
Please read our Protocols of Participation carefully before registering with us. It explains in detail how our resourcing model works, costs and commitments for schools, how programmes of learning are organised, and student support that is necessary. All participating schools are required to uphold these Protocols and sign a Memorandum of Understanding to acknowledge this during the registration process. Our Protocols are reviewed and updated every year, so you will need to be checked every time you register.
Steps to getting started
Whether you have participated with us before, or are considering joining us for the first time, follow these steps to get ready for learning online:
Step 1: Read our Protocols of Participation to ensure you fully understand your commitment to participate.
Step 2: Register your school using our online Registration Form.
You will also need to complete a Student Details Registration Spreadsheet – which is linked in the Registration Form.
Step 3: Take time to read our Virtual Classroom Setup Guide
This guide is informed by over a decade’s experience in online learning and offers essential advise to help your school set up a successful online class. Having the right audio equipment is critical and information on a range of highly recommended and affordable technology is included in the guide.
Step 4: Participate in an introductory online session with us.
These are scheduled at the beginning of each year and on request at other times. They are a must for schools and learners new to Kōtui Ako VLN. Onsite school support is vital.
Step 5: Introduce online learning to your learners with our Student Intro.
For schools who have experience in learning online with Kōtui Ako VLN, this presentation is designed to introduce your learners to all they need to know in order to be successful in their online learning adventure. Schools may use this resource themselves onsite, or we will be happy to run through it with your learners.
